Great job of explaining jQuery to JavaScript users

Assumes knowledge of html, css, some JavaScript, and light programming concepts. An informational style that explains every detail as it goes along, including every detail of each relevant line of each example. Clear, well-written, concise, unambiguous explanations. Explains only as much history as necessary, constantly focusing on use. In passing explains JavaScript details I've always wondered about. Consistently includes discussion of best coding practices and real-world situations, far beyond just explaining syntax. Never gets pedantic, repetitive, hypnotizing, boring, or jokey. I love it so far.

A Fair Evaluation

Just to be clear, the description explicitly shows this book as a major update to a book for JavaScript beginners. Evaluated with that context, the book achieves its purpose soundly.
I currently work with three engineers in the midst of implementing a solution with Deferreds/Promises. Any of these engineers would decline to recommend such a solution to beginners.
While this update moved the book's audience along the spectrum away from true beginners, it would be unfair and unreasonable to expect one update to move the needle from beginner to senior/expert.
