About the Author
Nicholas Mirzoeff is Professor of Media, Culture and Communication at New York University. He is author and editor of several books including Watching Babylon (1995) and The Visual Culture Reader, also now in its second edition (2002).

Not a good text book

this edition is the revised, updated edition of the book or the same title. Really it is more a completely different book. The first is about visual culture and is a good text book. This is more a volume of visual culture activism. It is not as suitable for a text book. I returned it and bought the original.

This book bring's to us many articles about many subjects that envolves the visual culture. We can read texts about the construction of the west, the culture of USA, and others. So, it's a good reference to researchers of this field.

I don't necessarily hate this book

I don't necessarily hate this book, but it's not an easy read. It doesn't really help you understand the subject he's trying to cover. I don't have a lot of time to invest in reading it. I'm studying engineering so I just skim over it and find one or two paragraphs to respond to in an essay which is a stretch. If anybody knows of another text that clarifies what he's trying to say better please comment and let me know. I don't have interest in this kind of stuff, I prolly should, but I don't. That doesn't make me not care about societal issues
