A very important work
By Kyle
I found this book to be an excellent and informative work that helped me, as a Christian, better understand the teachings of Islam. The book presents a factual analysis using references from each the Qur'an and the Bible to explain the meaning of each passage and also to explain the influence of each passage on the beliefs of each religion's followers. The book is well researched and presented both surprising similarities and dramatic differences between two of the world's most popular religions. Rev Richter should be commended on his contributions to presenting a basis for followers of both Islam and Christianity to better understanding one another and better understand each other's faith.

Fair and Balanced
By Cook
Unlike a fellow reviewer of this book - I found Rev. Richter's analysis and work in this book extremely fair and balanced - a book that allows the actual texts of the Qur'an and the Bible to speak for themselves - as opposed to thousands of other books out which contain the extended and long winded subjective opinions of the author. If you are looking for a book that simply lets the clear unadulterated words of the Qu'ran and the Bible speak, then this book is for you. This side by side comparison of the Qua'ran and the Bible allows for the reader to assess clearly, simply, distinctly, for themselves what each book teaches and how each either agrees or disagrees with one another. The author of this book offers a brief summary paragraph of what he has discovered through theological and textual review... and these I found to also be very fair and balanced.

A Helpful Guide To Understanding The Differences Between the Muslim And Christian Faith
By Harold Cameron
Comparing the Qur'an and the Bible is a must read for any lover of God and Disciple of Christ in our society today as if you have not already had an opportunity to meet and communicate with someone of the Muslim faith, you surely will. And you need to know what the Bible teaches as well as what the Qur'an teaches if you are going to be effective in your witness to them concerning the Word of God and the teachings of our faith that makes Christianity radically different from the Muslim Faith. And just one personal thought...we as Christians need to be fervently prayerful in regards to our sharing our faith with anyone. We also need to be rightly informed as to what the Word of God says about our faith in contrast to other religions. And we must be humble, meek, gentle and loving in our approach as we meet and communicate with people of a religion that is different than ours. Being argumentative or confrontational will do no good and cause more harm to the cause of Christ than can be imagined.

Pastor Rick Richter has written what just might be the perfect guide for understanding the differences between the Christian faith and the Muslim faith as well as the Word of God and the Qur'an. One thing that is important to note is that Muslims are taught, know and fully believe in what the Qur'an teaches. They are intelligent and well informed concerning their religion. It is sad but they are much more informed concerning their religion and their Holy Book than most professing Christians are concerning our faith and our Holy Word, The Word of God. But Pastor Richter has written a book to change that...that is, if we purchase the book, read it and come to understand the differences in the Christian faith and the Muslim religion.

Author Richter breaks his book down into 2 parts: Part 1 being the part of the book where he writes about the differences in our faiths and what is written in our Holy books. For example in Chapter 1 he writes about who Abraham is and his significance. The author writes that, "Muslims, Christians, and "Jews" all claim Abraham as their father. He then goes on to write about who Abraham was, what his significance is to the Christian faith as well as the other faiths and about Abraham and what is referred to as "The Ka'aba. In Chapter 2 author Richter writes about Ishmael and Isaac and their importance to people of the Muslim and Christian faith.

In Chapter 3 Pastor Richter writes about Jews, Muslims and Christians and the differences that exist in our faith. This chapter is a real eye opener concerning what Muslims really believe about Jews and Christians. It is probably not what you have thought and will prove to be quite shocking to you. In Chapter 4 he writes about Allah/versus the Lord God. Although as the author points out the Qur'an and the Bible do have some similarity in views there is as the author writes, "a basic divergence of teaching on the being of God." It is in chapter 5 that the author addresses the issue of the historical Jesus and what the Qur'an teaches versus what the Bible teaches about the person, mission, life and death of Christ as well as the meanings of Grace and faith to the Muslims. And for starters, the author writes the Qur'an teaches that it is not by "grace through faith" in Jesus Christ - or through "forgiveness by atonement" that people come to God and establish a relationship with him leading to rebirth. The Qur'an does not mention rebirth or being "born again" in its writings.

In Chapter 6 Pastor Richter writes about "Angels and Jinn;" in Chapter 7 about Humankind, and in Chapter 8 regarding "Women and Marriage." Again on these issues the author relates the differences between the Christian faith and the Muslim faith...and there are many differences in our beliefs.

In Chapter 9 author Richter writes about the "Ethical Teachings" of the Bible versus the Qur'an. In Chapter 10 he shares the differences in what Christians and Muslims believe about the "End Times." It is in Chapter 11 that he addresses the "primary source" of information for our rule of faith, practice and life...for the Muslim it is the Qur'an and for the Christian it is the Holy Bible, The Word of God. The Qur'an is the highest authority in the Muslim faith just as the Bible is for professing Christians. In Chapter 12 he shares about the differences in our practice of faith, the spiritual disciples of our faith such as in the areas of "Prayer, "Almsgiving, "Fasting" and "Pilgrimage." In Chapter 13 he gives a brief summation of the major differences that exist between the Christian faith and the Muslim faith. Things we all need to know if we are going to be effective in our witness to people of the Muslim faith.

In Part 2 and Chapter 14 of his book, Pastor Richter asks and then gives Biblically solid answers to the "Questions of Life," and in Chapter 15 he reveals how we are to go about sharing the Good News of the Gospel with Muslims when we are presented with such a privilege and opportunity. He then provides us a glimpse into the life of Muhammad, as well as some information about the Shi'ites and Sunnis. He concludes his book with a remarkable and stirring "Testimony of a Former Muslim." It is sure to touch your heart as you read it. He gives us a helpful "Study Guide" to use as the reader of his book so that we can take notes to help us remember what we have read and studied concerning the Qur'an and the Bible. He then ends his book with "Reference Pages" of Scripture passages that he has quoted throughout his book, and his book is loaded with the Scriptures to aid us in understanding what the Word of God teaches versus what the Qur'an teaches. You will find them to be most helpful.

So, if you are looking for a compact, accurate guide that will help you understand the differences between the Qur'an and the Bible as well as the Muslim Faith and the Christian faith, this is the book for you. I highly recommend it as an invaluable resource for accurate and factual information concerning not only the Muslim faith but also for our faith as Christians.
